a little…

Nostalgia

As we prepare to launch our new Summer collection in a few days, we think it’s appropriate to take a few minutes and look back at where we’ve been and how far we’ve come. We started Pennant Race a few years back with barely any money, no customer base and a lot of passionate & (what we thought to be) unique ideas.

firsttee

Above is actually the first graphic we ever produced. It’s special for a few reasons beyond the fact that it was our first ever Pennant Race product. First, it allowed us to give a commentary on our thoughts on the modern-day athlete. Second, it allowed us to flip our favorite movie poster of all-time. The two came together nicely for a clean, simple graphic that garnered attention from all types of people.

The great thing about expressing yourself artistically is that you are constantly amazed by the diverse group of people who appreciate your stuff. It allows you to break stereotypes in your own mind and realize that you have common interests with individuals you never would have thought you would.

Although we’ve come a long way since that first tee… You’ll continue to see a lot of the same influences in our work today. We are still sports inspired, we still draw a lot of inspiration from that same aforementioned movie, and our graphics still evoke countless hours of thought and passion. We have not changed who we are because we haven’t needed to, there are plenty of “us” in the world.

We thank all of our loyal supporters who have held us down and allowed us to keep making products we truly care about. We promise you that as we go through the boxes of our new Summer stuff that launches later this week, we are just as giddy as we were the day we opened that first tee! This is just the beginning and we hope you continue to ride with us.

Onward and upward!

yanks bring the thunder

Stormy night in Queens

subway600

There weren’t a lot of bright spots for the Mets in last nights subway series game. They lost 9 to 1 as A-rod and Gardner each had a dinger. The real bright spots came from the serious lightning and thunder that rolled through NYC last night. Check out the picture above, via Shannon Stapleton of Reuters.

draft and trades

The NBA is poppin’

nba_a_oneal_james_576

With tonight’s NBA draft getting closer there are all kinds of moves being made. The biggest (so far) has to do with these two gentleman above… That’s right, it’s official, Shaq is on his way to Cleveland with hopes of bringing some power to the center. Another rumor truth floating around is that Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson may will be heading to Orlando in exchange for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee. The Lakers didn’t want to miss out on all the fun so they sold their 29th pick to the Knicks for a cool 3 million bucks. Not a bad deal for The Champs. I’m sure the action will continue into the night. We’ll be watching to see what the Blazers do…

Manny News

He’s Baaaack!

manny_ramirez_dodger

Well almost back. Manny is rehabbing (pun) with the Isotopes (from Albuquerque not the Simpsons). And it seems to have caused quite a stir. Since Saturday they have sold 20,000 tickets for this week’s four home games compared to the typical “hundred or so”. It seems that fans are willing to overlook the 50 game suspension. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of swagger Manny comes back with.

On a side note: Thanks to all the loyal supporters who placed orders during the Mystery Box sale. It was a big success. We hope everyone is happy with the boxes. We will try to bring this type of sale back later in the year.

Sale Update

So the sale went up last night and so far it’s a big success! So big in fact that we’ve sold out of medium and large boxes… BUT there are a lot of S, XL and XXL boxes still available. Now is the time to get in on the action!

To everyone who ordered last night, big thank you. We had a lot of fun packing up your boxes. Expect some great stuff and some surprises.
