USC’s Stafon Johnson

Good news out of L.A.

sj_usc

USC’s Stafon Johnson was severely injured earlier this week when 275 pounds of weight dropped on to his throat while doing a set of bench presses. He was rushed to a hospital and underwent 7 hours of surgery. Today he is awake and communicating. Doctors expect a full recovery and say he is lucky to be alive. If it weren’t for his solid, muscular neck he may not have made it. We wish a speedy recovery for Stafon.

In somewhat related news… We’ve got some great new product coming out in the next few weeks, including something for the USC fans out there. Stay tuned…

Jeter Ties Gehrig

A worthy successor

derek-jeter

Last night Derek Jeter tied Lou Gehrig’s all-time Yankee record for hits at 2,721. This cements him as one of the greatest Yankees ever to play the game along with name like Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, and DiMaggio.

The best thing about Jeter is that he’s a throwback to what baseball players used to be. I an era of steroids, contract negotiations, and some bad attitudes (see Barry Bonds) Jeter is a selfless team player, a fierce competitor, and a class act. He is the example for how professional athletes should carry themselves. And while he will never have the legacy of Gehrig, he is more than a worthy successor…
